Auburn Couple Named SBA Washington Small Business Person of the Year and SBDC
State Star Client of the Year

Auburn, WA – Courtni and Stephen Doherty, co-owners of Circle Creek Therapy in Auburn, WA, have been honored with two prestigious awards for 2025:

Small Business Administration (SBA) Washington State Small Business Person(s) of

the Year

Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) State Star Client of the

Year

These accolades recognize the Dohertys’ exceptional leadership, their clinic’s impressive

growth, and their unwavering commitment to serving their community through accessible,

family-centered therapy services.

The Dohertys will be recognized during National Small Business Week, taking place from May 4–10, 2025, and are eligible for the National Small Business Person of the Year award, which will be announced at the SBA’s national celebration in Washington, D.C.

“Our goal has always been to make life a little easier for families by offering them a one-stop destination for the therapy services their loved ones need,” said Courtni Doherty, CEO and founder of Circle Creek Therapy. “It’s been a journey full of both challenges and triumphs, and I remind myself every day: just do one thing better than yesterday. As parents of a child with special needs, this work is deeply personal to us. These awards are a humbling reminder of the progress we’ve made and the difference we can make together.”

Circle Creek Therapy offers a wide range of services, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy, along with mental health counseling for both children and adults. Recently, the clinic expanded into a newly remodeled facility to better serve the growing needs of the community. The Dohertys are also in the early stages of launching their nonprofit, Circle Creek Cares, which will further support families through scholarships and educational resources in the future.

As the SBDC State Star Client of the Year, the Dohertys were recognized for their effective use of business advising and resources to successfully expand their clinic, create new jobs, and develop a lasting, positive impact on the community.

Stephen Doherty, Chief Administrative Officer, added, “These honors inspire us to continue building a space where families feel supported, empowered, and heard. It motivates us to keep working toward our mission of making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.”
